name of God Amen I Abraham Toulmin of the parrish of Stepney in the County of
Mddx.
Schoolmaster, being sick and weak in body but of sound disposeing mind and
memory
Thanks be given to Almighty God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of
my body
and knowing that it is appointed for all [flesh] to dye, doe make and
declare
this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) first
and
principally I give my soul to God who gave it to me And for my body I commend
it
to the
Earth to be decently interred at the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter
named
And as [to all] such [Worldly] Estate wherewith it hath pleased Allmighty God
to
bless and endue me withall in this life (my debts and funeral charges being
first
paid
and discharged) ... I will give and dispose thereof as followeth (That is to
say) All my Estate both real and personal be the
same in any ?Kindred or Quality
whatsoever
howsoever and wheresoever, I doe and will give and bequeath unto my well
beloved
wife Mary Toulmin towards the support and maintenance and education of my
children
And I doe hereby make name ordain and appoint my said wife Mary Toulmin
sole
executrix of this my last Will and Testament thereby revoking and making void
all
former wills ... and Deeds of gifts and bequests by me heretofore either made
or
spoken
and confirming this to be and contain my only last will and Testament in
Witness
whereof I the said Abraham Toulmin the Testator have hereunto set my Hand &
Seale
this twentyeth day of October Anno Domini 1716 and in the third year of the
reign
of our Sovereign Lord George First of Great Britain.

this date, the Parish of Stepney would have included what was later St George
in
the E
(parish 1728) but not Wapping (parish 1693).
The boundary was roughly along
Green
Bank: Old Gravel Lane would have been in Stepney.
