He was actually apprenticed, 8 Feb 1738 (Wallis; but 1737 in AppGB 15/50, per JMH: perhaps NS/OS resp.). He entered the (Coward) Fund Academy for nonconformist ministers (see App.N) shortly after its foundation, and became an assistant tutor in 1742. John died 28th June 1793. Brother of David Sweet of London & Taunton, who m.1791 Esther's 2nd cousin Lucinda Toulmin (*13314, qv for more on Sweet family )" "John Sweet of Hoxton Sq., Esqr" in his will (PRO PROB11/1235 f.50); wife Esther Sweet, also mothers [sic] and sisters; David Sweet, Sarah Cooke Sweet, Elizabeth Gribble (Plymouth) & small legacies. Made at Folkingham 28 June 1793, proved 19 July 1793 by exors. Richard Palmer Baker & David Sweet brother of decd; probate names Elizabeth Sweet (mother), Elizabeth wife of R.P.Baker (sister), Sarah Cooke Sweet, spinster (niece) as "the only persons intitled in distribution to the Personal Estate". He seems to have left at least £25000. The will was evidently written in great haste from John's dictation, and the first witness was an inn-keeper's wife; so it seems John was taken ill suddenly while travelling (he could not even scrawl his name), probably between London and Lincoln. (Folkingham (TF0733) is a stage between Peterborough and Sleaford in Ogilby's "Britannia", 1675.) His actual date of death is nowhere stated, but the implication is that it was very soon after the will was made, probably the same day.

She married an unknown person 20 Sept 1792. bap. 5 Jun 1760 (OGL). Residuary legatee of *1311. Of interest. She was already 32 when she married, quite late for the times. Her husband and her grandfather were both stockbrokers at Hoxton Square. She was widowed within a year of her marriage.
