Second Generation

2. Abraham2 TOULMIN (Abraham1) reference *1 (#14) was born 1630.

He married ???? ????. (???? ???? reference =*1) (???? ???? is #58.) ???? became the mother of Abraham TOULMIN ????. ???? became the mother of William TOULMIN 1660?.

Abraham became the father of Abraham TOULMIN ????. At 30 years of age Abraham became the father of William TOULMIN 1660?. "Schoolmaster at Stepney, Middx. Will of 20 Oct 1716 proved 15 Nov 1716, by his wife" (Burke); but this will (App.J) indicates the testator had children under 21, and I've therefore assigned it to *13. This leaves very little evidence that an Abraham b.c.1630 existed.

Abraham TOULMIN and ???? ???? had the following children:

child + 3 i. Abraham3 TOULMIN was born ????.

child 4 ii. Sarah TOULMIN reference *12 (#334). She married Serjeant? BASKER ????. (Serjeant? BASKER reference =*12) (Serjeant? BASKER is #335.) Mr Serjeant Basker (JMH): not in Burke. JMH: not in Burke or ME90. [Flood,9 describes the Sarah who m. Basker, Sergeant-at-Law, as daughter of Abraham (*132) - perhaps confused by his daus. who m. Sergeant and Barker! On p.27 she may have been daughter of Abraham (*) or William (*11).]

child 5 iii. William TOULMIN reference *11 (#15) was born 1660?. He married ???? HUGHES. (???? HUGHES reference =*11) (???? HUGHES is #59.) dau.of ? Hughes (Burke); of Oxon. with £10,000 (ME90). But note that the mother of *132 is also said to be from Oxon: have William and Abraham been confused here also?

Schoolmaster at Wapping, Middx. (Burke). Burke goes on to make *131 his son; this is certainly wrong (see notes under *13), and lacking any reference to original sources it is very uncertain what can be said safely about William.
